Continuing Education Requirements
CE Provider #1859
Licensees are required to complete a total of 4 hours of department-approved continuing education courses every two years to renew your license, including:

One hour in sanitation

Three hours of your choice in any of the following topics:

Any topic listed in Section 83.202 of the rules

Sanitation required under the law and rules
-
The Texas Barbering and Cosmetology law and rules

Mental health awareness
-
Human trafficking prevention

A licensee that has held a license for 15 years or longer only have to have 1 hour of sanitation continuing education. The additional
3 hours of continuing education are not required for license renewal.
You may not receive continuing education hours for attending the same course more than once.
Barbers will be required to have continuing education hours beginning September 1, 2025.
Is your course approved by TDLR for Cosmetology continuing education?
Yes, we are an approved provider for the continuing education requirement.
How do I renew my cosmetology license?
In order to renew your license, you must meet the continuing education approved course requirements and renew your license with TDLR.
Will you report that I have completed my continuing education to TDLR?
Yes, Center of Attraction Hair Gallery will issue you a certificate of completion and is responsible for the reporting of continuing education hours to TDLR within 15 days of course completion.
Do I need to retain a copy of my certificate of completion?
Yes, TDLR rules state that the licensee should retain a copy of their continuing education certificate for at least 2 years.
Where can I verify if my continuing education hours have been reported to TDLR?
You can verify that your hours have been reported by checking the TDLR website. It can take up to 10 business days for your hours to update.
